Visitors policy guides the patients’ visiting pattern creating balance between the needs of patients, their visitors and the hospital care.

Purpose
  • To manage the visiting arrangements so that balance between the needs of patients and visitors with hospital staff delivering treatment and care is maintained.
  • To maintain a safe, secure and comfortable environment for patients and staff.
  • To ensure patient confidentiality.
Scope

This will apply to all paients and visitors.

Issuance of Visiting Cards

The Visiting Cards will be issued from the Admission Counter at the time of patient admission. The Visitor needs to carry the visiting card during each visit.


Procedures and Guidelines

Visiting in 3/4 Sharing Rooms & Twin Sharing Rooms

  • 2 visitings cards are used.
  • Visiting time:
    • In the morning : 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
    • In the morning : 9:30 AM - 10:00 AM (1 extra card only for Husbands)
    • In the evening : 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
  • Children are allowed everyday only during the evening visiting hours.

Visiting in Nursery

  • No Separate passes are required.
  • The Newborns can be visited everyday between 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM

Visiting in Paediatric Ward

  • 2 visiting cards are issued
  • Visiting time:
    • In the morning : 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
    • In the evening : 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
  • In addition to the above a 24 hrs Attendant Pass is issued separately for the mothers.

Visiting in Deluxe / Super Deluxe / Suite Rooms

  • 2 visiting cards are issued.
  • Visiting time:
    • In the morning : 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM
    • In the evening : 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
  • In addition to the above a 24 hrs Attendant Pass is issued separately for the husband / attendant as applicable.

Visiting in the Critical Care Units such as, ICU/NICU/SCBU/Isolation

  • Only 1 visiting card is issued
  • Visiting time:
    • In the morning : 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM
    • In the evening : 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM
  • Visitors may be requested to leave the ward/unit during procedures and thus be sensitive to the needs of the patients, medical and nursing staff.
  • Not more than two persons should visit a patient at one point of time.
  • Children visitors’ must be under the supervision of an adult at all times while in the hospital.
  • Relatives and friends are requested not to visit if they have sore throats , flu , vomiting and /or diarrhoea or other infections , because of the risk of introducing infection to the ward.
  • Visiting hours may also be restricted for emergency medical situations . All exceptions and restrictions are at the discretion of the management.
  • All are requested to put their cell phones in silent / vibration mode in all areas inside the Hospital premises.

Patients Right to Decline Visitors

  • On receiving a request for restricted / no visitors from a patient , next of kin , or nominated family member , the nursing staff will document the request in the nursing notes with the date and duration of such request.
  • The nurse will inform the Operations Head for maintaining a record of such requests for the duration of the patient stay, unless the request is subsequently amended.

** Visitors are expected to abide by the above policy and thus cooperate with ground staff.
