Successful Recovery of a child treated in the Paediatric- ICU

Aditya was admitted in a very critical condition to the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) of our Neotia Bhagirathi Woman and Child Care Centre, New Town ( BNWCCC, NT) under the supervision of Dr. Somenath Gorain ( Paediatric Intensivist & PICU In- charge at BNWCCC NT) with acute myocarditis, acute renal failure with pancreatitis in shock. He was diagnosed with a case of MIS (c) (post-COVID-19 illness). It is a new syndrome that affects multiple organs in the body which are visible in post-COVID-19 patients particularly in children. He required intensive care treatment given by our team of Paediatric Superspeciality doctors - Dr Sumantra Kumar Raut (Paediatric Nephrologist), Dr Sanjiban Ghosh ( Paediatric Cardiologist), Dr Gautam Ray ( Paediatric Gastroenterologist), Dr Arundhati Banerjee ( Paediatric Neurologist) & the team was led by PICU In- charge – Dr Somenath Gorain. Aditya required focussed PICU care including ventilation during his stay and gradually recovered. He is still under the regular supervision of this team of doctors and now doing well. We thank Mrs Anuradha Mittal to share her child’s inspiring and successful recovery experience. We wish Aditya and his family a very healthy and happy life ahead.
