Babies rejoice – the best is back!

Neotia Bhagirathi Women and Child Care Centre, with two units in Rawdon Street and New Town, is known to one and all in Kolkata and its surroundings to have the finest healthcare facilities and qualified doctors in the city. So much so, that it has become the hospital of choice for all women and children’s medical disorders and for maternal care. Over the years, these two hospitals have, over and over, been privy to the miracle of life with countless little bundles of joy being born here.
Keeping this in mind, an initiative entitled ‘Baby’s Day Out’ was conceptualised and subsequently translated into reality celebrating these joyous arrivals.
And this year saw the relaunch of this fun-filled event after 10 long years on 9th February 2025.
Baby’s Day Out: A brief overview
The genesis of Baby’s Day Out was the desire to host a carnival to celebrate the arrival of newborns at the Neotia Bhagirathi hospitals and provide an opportunity for parents to connect, share experiences and enjoy a day dedicated to the little ones. In brief, Baby’s Day Out seeks to create a nurturing community among parents of newborns, provide a platform for parents to share their experiences, challenges and joys of parenthood with peers and honour the joy that each newborn brings into the world.
A fun-filled event to remember
The relaunch of Baby’s Day Out was a runaway success with a mind-boggling 8000 people attending, of whom approximately 2000 were children. People attended in huge numbers. In fact, the first little guest arrived early at 10,26 am and guests enjoyed themselves so much that a few lingered on till 5.30 pm in the evening.
The day was packed with fun-filled activities and sessions which included Storytelling Sessions, performances by the little ones, a DIY corner, exciting activities for kids, a dedicated toddler zone and even themed photo booths.
Some of the activities included enthralling games for children like Can the Can, Toss the Ring, Spoon it Up and more, while magicians and mascots captivated the little ones with their performances. The Bubble Show in particular was loved by all and sundry. What’s more, children had a great time in the DIY corner getting engaged in fun activities like Canvas Painting, Sunglass Making, Cap Painting, Stuffed Toy Making, Pouch Painting and Tattoo Art. The rides such as the Horse Carousel and LED Train were a huge attraction for children of all ages. Toddlers too had a whale of a time in the Toddler Zone indulging in free play, sensory activities and colouring and craft.
There were also many photo booths with different themes all around the venue which were an instant hit with the attendees. And the refreshment stalls serving healthy snacks and beverages did brisk business, thronged by parents and children alike. Special mention must also be made of the Cake Cutting ceremony and release of balloons that saw enthusiastic participation of the guests and children.
Launch of Rainbow Bridge
Not restricting itself only to fun and games, Baby’s Day Out also saw the launch of a path-breaking social initiative of Ambuja Neotia Healthcare, Rainbow Bridge by Mr. Parthiv Neotia, Executive Director of the Ambuja Neotia Group.
Rainbow Bridge is a social welfare initiative that strives to ensure that healthcare should be inclusive and accessible to all. This initiative is committed to bringing light, hope, and positive change to the lives of individuals belonging to different communities. It seeks to make a difference by ensuring that primary healthcare is available for all, especially for communities such as LGBTQ+ community and children with special needs.
Attended by the who’s who of the city
A resounding success in every way, Baby’s Day Out saw the presence of eminent personalities and celebrities. While Mrs. Madhu Neotia, Mrs. Mallika Neotia and Mr. Parthiv Neotia, Executive Director of the Ambuja Neotia Group graced the occasion with their presence, the Guest of Honour was the popular Tollywood actress, Ms. Koel Mullick. Popular singer, Mr Anik Dhar was also present.
The event saw extensive media coverage as well with prominent dailies like The Telegraph and Ei Somoy, among others, covering the proceedings. Digital coverage was equally extensive on portals like The Times Today Online, t2 Online and more. Social media presence was also noteworthy.
A delight for one and all
As is evident, Baby’s Day Out was a stellar success and was thoroughly enjoyed by children and parents alike. So much so that queries came flying thick and fast about when it would be held again next year, pointing to a sense of anticipation that augurs well for the future.
As Mr. Parthiv Neotia perfectly summed up, “Although Baby’s Day Out is an event for the kids, yet this is an event to honour the joy that each newborn brings into the world and recognize the hard work and dedication of the families.”
